chances of dental or any health professions school how realistic?

to give off some information, im currently in my second year of undergrad, my first semester i was at Uofpitt and received a 3.0 as a bio major, transferred closer to home because of family members health, granted leave of absence spring 2009 for insomnia/depression, fall 2009 finished with a 1.0 gpa currently academic probation, i currently have 17 credits (not all of pitts transferred) i was told by my advisor to take calc but after 2 weeks there was no way i could keep up (no math in 2 years) so i withdrew, given all of this information and knowing i must work really hard, what are my chances of making it in to dental school or any other health professions school?
is it possible todo if pulling atleast 3.0’s from here out?

it’s not all about your GPA, you’ll need to be a well-rounded person.

However, I doubt that with academic probation on your record you will be considered.

you also need to evaluate whether you can withstand the stresses of dental/medical school with the insomnia/depression you had. it was so severe you required a leave of absence from school?

not to be mean, but you might want to start looking into a different field. college sucks, it’s pretty stressful and can make or break the rest of your life, but if you broke that badly, you might want to choose a different career.

Yes, it is very possible to gain admission to a health professions school if you can pull at least a 3.0 from here on out because that will show that you can turn yourself around and that is a huge favorable sign to admissions people that you can do it.

in order to get in med school at least, you are def going to need better than a 3.0 - and you’ll also need a killer MCAT score.

MCAT scores really matter when getting into a med school. the way MCAT scores work is a 24 is average (half did better and half did worse than you). you usually need a 28-30 to get into normal med schools. if you want to go somewhere really good you’ll need atleast a 35
