Melatonin for kids as a sleep aid?

m 13 and i was diagnosed with insomnia a while back, my doctor didnt want to put me on some intense drug or anything so she prescribed melatonin, i was wondering if there was side affects? Do you know a teen on melatonin that experienced any side affects? Does it increase depression in teens? (not saying im depressed or anything) Any other information would also be nice :) thanks

There are many reasons for someone of your age not sleeping properly and your doctor was right not to give you anything heavy. Well done for going to see the doctor though, shows you are wise!

Melatonin, although a naturally produced hormone in the body shoudl not be taken in excess so be careful you don’t take more than prescribed even if it doesn’t seem to work. You must be aware, that just as many other things, one product may not work for you although it may for others. Every one is different, not only on the outside, but also on the inside and chemical imbalances can be problematic.

Instead of melatonin, try eating walnuts! Not joking, as they have the highest content of melatonin in any food product…….. If you want to find out more about other natural methods of getting, and staying alseep try the link below.

Hope you get some sleep and don’t get too grumpy in the morning!
