what do you think is the best medication for Insomnia?

I have a doctor Mrs. Jackson I can obviously ask this, but I wanted to ask you guys because I want to know if you tried anything that works for you, I constantly stay up all night and dont go asleep till 2 or 3pm and wake up between 7 and 8pm and up another night..or for even 2 days in a row with no sleep..I keep my dogs next to me to keep me company..my mom is constantly yelling at me saying Im on drugs or something off the wall, and it is making very irritable..especially with her..I need help what meds do you recommend???-Jessica (california)

    melatonin works very well for some people
    ambien works great for 90% of people
    as a last resort, seroquel will knock you out

    the last two require a prescription.

    Sauna.

    After a long, hot sweat, for some reason I am just so tired and want to rest. It becomes easy to fall into sleep.

    Becoming reliant on chemicals isn’t a good idea.

    Google "sleep hygiene" - practical and common sense solutions such as getting enough exercise, relaxation techniques etc.

    I take a dose of Nyquil every night before bed. Puts me right out.

    I had insomnia and I live in California too…

    I used to eat cereal then try to sleep. If that didn’t work. You can easily go to the pharmacy at a CVS or Longs (banned around So Cal now right?) and ask about insomnia meds.

    It is by prescription only and it is called Ambien.
    Believe me it works. I use to have the hardest time going to sleep and now I fall asleep as soon as I close my eyes.
    But be careful, it can become habit forming and if you use it for many months, you will have withdraws, bad withdraws.

    i use mediation for hour or two before bed to give me inner calm works a treat for me
    also try creating a routine to do every night.

    Melatonin, or marijuana should definitely help you… if you don’t want to try the second one, Melatonin is a natural sleep-aid and should help you fall asleep. If not, you could try exercising during the day. I hear that this aids in great sleep at night. Or meditation.

    Insomnia is usually the side effect of something troubling you. I think you have to resolve whatever is bothering you first to really be able to kick insomnia altogether. Getting a good amount of exercise or a deep massage to wear yourself physically out is a good idea too.
