Xanax and pre-employment drug testing?

I got a one time script for 60 Xanax a year ago after a death in my family, I only used them when I couldn’t sleep. The last week I have had insomnia so I went back into the cabinet and got the pills out and used them at night.

I have a job interview this week that will include a drug test. The last 1mg tablet I took was Thursday, what’s a reasonable amount of time for this to be out of my system?

I have seen varied amounts of time listed, I really don’t want to disclose my "panic" attacks to a future employer.

Thanks
Interview is Tuesday…..it’s a job at a Federal facility.

    One Says:

Just tell them that you took a Xanax and have a prescription for it.

Most likely it’s still gonna show up. Are they taking the urine or hair test? My job tests randomly (and pre-employ) via hair……Zanax is pretty popular on the street so it’s sort of a "no no" but YOU ARE SAFE anyway, if, infact you have the script or can prove that they WERE INFACT prescribed to you — if what you wrote is the truth… just be honest with them and there should be no problem………if not, you’re SOL………
What’s more important to you — this potential JOB or your personal "panic" can’t sleep… issues…

Relax, it’s already out of your system if you took it Thursday. Besides if it did show up in your urine sample you had it perscribed to you …old perscription or not. The Lab must contact your medical provider in the event of a positive test. Then your provider must contact you for an explination. Just tell them the same thing you said here. But it wont come to that…it’s already out of your system. Xanax is detectable for 24 hours at most.
I’m sorry to hear about the loss of your family & good luck on the job prospect.
